The need for media protection doesn't stop at protecting your media and data at rest, in transit, and in use. When disposing of any electronic media such as laptops, hard drives, phones, and portable storage, it is important to make sure that all information and data on the device is properly removed. In fact, many other devices such as cameras may also contain sensitive data such as pictures or files. Yes - I have heard of people using their digital cameras in a pinch on which to store files because they were using someone else's computer or a loaner, and forgot their flash drive and needed to save a document onto a remote device.
